Position Overview:
The Clinical Occupational Therapist supports individuals with autism and developmental disabilities by assessing functional abilities, sensory processing, and daily living skills, and by developing and implementing individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans. Therapy is delivered in both individual and group formats to promote independence and participation across home, school, and community environments, along with recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications. The Clinical Occupational Therapist also coaches caregivers, families, and educators to ensure strategies are reinforced in daily routines while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and monitoring client progress. The position includes maintenance accurate clinical documentation, and it upholds all professional and organizational standards.
Expected Compensation:
Gross salary will be $32.78 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess functional abilities, sensory processing, and ADLs in individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.
- Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Provide therapy for sensory regulation, motor skills, self-care, transitions, and daily living skills.
- Support communication, independence, and participation in home, school, and community settings.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
- Educate and coach caregivers, families, and educators.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor progress and update treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Deliver individual and group-based interventions.
- Follow professional and organizational standards.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
- Experience with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of sensory processing, ADLs, and motor development.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred care.
- Strong assessment and treatment planning skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload.
- A valid driver’s licence may be required.
- Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.
- Second language (e.g., French) is an asset.
