We are recruiting for a part-time Counsellor within the CCSYR Counselling Team. Position Overview: The part time Counsellor, provides professional, client-centered counselling services that integrates evidence-based therapeutic approaches with the values of hope and belonging. The therapist supports individual, couples, families experiencing emotional, mental health, relational and life challenges. Services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, ethical guidelines integrating Catholic principles. Expected Compensation: Gross salary will be $36.41 per hour based on 22.5 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual, couple, family and group counselling using evidence based therapeutic interventions.
  • Integrate Catholic principles, values and spiritual perspectives into counselling when requested by clients and appropriate to the therapeutic process.
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessment and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, relationship concerns, family conflicts, stress, life transitions, and other mental health concerns.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
  • Collaborate with community partners, clergy, and other professionals to coordinate client care when appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in social work, Counselling psychology, or related mental health discipline.
  • Current registration in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or equivalent).
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing clinical counselling services in faith-based settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or other appropriate approaches.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, values and pastoral care principles.
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset (Mandarin/Cantonese).

  • A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and relevant
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of appropriate accreditation, professional references and a successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records

About CCSYR: CCSYR is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families thrive through counselling, settlement, employment, and community engagement services. The organization supports newcomers, immigrants, refugees, seniors, youth, and diverse communities across York Region. Position Overview: CCSYR operates as a governance board responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations, policies, and strategic direction. The Board ensures the organization operates in alignment with its mission and objectives while providing governance, strategic leadership, and oversight to support CCSYR’s sustainability and community impact. Board members contribute professional expertise, participate in decision-making, and serve as ambassadors for the organization. These are volunteer positions with no remuneration attached. Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend and actively participate in Board and committee meetings,
  • Support organizational strategic planning and governance,
  • Review policies, budgets, and financial statements,
  • Contribute professional expertise and community insight,
  • Promote and advocate for CCSYR programs and initiatives,
