This placement offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience in non-profit marketing and communications while making a meaningful impact. Position Overview As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator - Student Placement, you’ll assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies, creating engaging content, managing social media channels, and supporting community outreach efforts. This role is ideal for college students looking to fulfill placement requirements, gain real-world experience, and build a strong portfolio. Key Responsibilities
  • Campaign Support: Assist with marketing strategies for CCSYR’s programs and services.
  • Content Creation: Develop social media posts, website updates, and email newsletters.
  • Social Media Management: Maintain and schedule posts across platforms; track engagement.
  • Digital Analytics: Monitor campaign performance, providing insights and reports.
  • Event Promotion: Help create materials and promote events and webinars.
  • Marketing Materials: Design flyers, brochures, and presentations for outreach initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with social media platforms, basic SEO, familiarity with Canva or Adobe, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Education: Enrolled in a college program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

Department: Marketing and Communications Organization: Catholic Community Services of York Region (CCSYR) Location: York Region, ON (remote or hybrid options available) Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week (flexible, with bonus points for good memes).

Position Overview
Are you the person in your friend group who knows exactly which emoji to use in every text (💯)? Do you have a knack for turning everyday moments into Instagram-worthy posts? If so, Catholic Community Services of York Region (CCSYR) is calling your name!
We’re on the hunt for a Social Media Marketing Assistant to help us brighten newsfeeds, connect with the community, and maybe even go viral (in a good way). This is your chance to use your social media superpowers for something meaningful—while having a little fun along the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with creating and curating engaging content for our social media platforms (funny captions encouraged).
  • Help manage our social media accounts, respond to comments, and sprinkle positivity everywhere.
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm creative campaigns that inspire and connect (yes, we’ll listen to your wild ideas).
  • Schedule posts and ensure everything looks polished and professional.
  • Keep an eye on analytics, because data is cool when it involves likes, shares, and comments.
  • Stay updated on social media trends and occasionally suggest how we can jump on the latest bandwagon (tastefully, of course).
  • Assist with creating visuals using Canva or similar tools to ensure our content stands out like a double rainbow.

Qualifications
  • Passion for social media and making people feel good.
  • Experience with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (or at least enough to know what’s trending).
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva wizards and meme lords are welcome).
  • Strong communication skills and a good sense of humor.
  • Self-starter who can manage tasks independently but also loves being part of a team.
  • Open to learning and experimenting with new ideas—yes, even TikTok challenges.

For over 43 years, CCSYR has been dedicated to empowering our community through counseling, settlement services, and leadership programs.
What You’ll Do:
  • Secure sponsorships and partnerships for our signature events, including SHEvolution 2025, smaller donor campaigns, and local community events.
  • Source vendors, donations, and venue discounts to support our fundraising goals.
  • Sell event tickets and promote our initiatives within York Region communities.
  • Represent CCSYR as the face of our organization at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Contribute to donor campaigns, leveraging digital and in-person strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Requirements:
    • At least 1+ years of experience in fundraising and/or donor campaigning.
    • Proven experience in networking and cold calling, both digitally and in-person, as well as at events.
  • Asset Skills (Not Required but Preferred):
    • Knowledge of digital marketing for fundraising and donor campaign strategies.
    • Experience with social media management to support fundraising initiatives.
    • Skills in event planning and sales to boost outreach and impact.
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Influencers and leaders with strong networks and an abundance mindset.
    • Passion for giving back and empowering others.
    • Confidence engaging with executives, business owners, and affluent donors.
