  • Art-Based Therapy to support emotional expression and confidence.
  • Play-Based Interventions that encourage social skills, imagination, and joy.

Why Families Choose CCSYR

In April 2023, CCSYR launched a small pilot project to support newcomer families and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program offered:

  • One-on-one therapy sessions
  • Group activities
  • Workshops tailored for children and families

What fueled this beginning? A shared commitment—to create inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive support where there was previously none.

Our holistic approach, combined with over 40 years of expertise as a settlement agency, allows us to truly understand the challenges faced by newcomer families. We know the social, cultural, and systemic barriers they experience, and we design our programs to meet families where they are—providing support that is practical, culturally sensitive, and empowering.

Thanks to the generosity of the funders and the unwavering dedication of our clinical team, this small initiative has grown into a full-fledged, community-anchored Autism Program making a lasting impact across York Region.

Our team walks alongside you — helping your child thrive at home, school, and in the community.

Recognized Across York Region’s Child and Family Support System

CCSYR’s disABILITY Services is a recognized partner in the York Region Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Situation Table in Newmarket — a regional, multi-sector initiative co-led by the Regional Municipality of York and York Regional Police to identify and support children, youth, and families facing situations of acutely elevated risk.

A Situation Table brings together professionals from across health, education, social services, and community organizations to co-ordinate rapid, culturally informed responses when a family’s needs are too complex for any single agency to address alone. When a situation meets the threshold for immediate intervention, a co-ordinated response is mobilized within 72 hours — with strict privacy protocols throughout.

CCSYR serves not only as a participating agency at the Newmarket table but as both a lead agency and the primary agency responsible for co-ordinating the majority of cases — a recognition that reflects the depth of our clinical expertise, the trust placed in us by sector partners, and our commitment to ensuring no child or family in York Region is left without support.

For families, this means your child’s needs will be heard and acted on quickly, with the right people around the table. For community partners and referral agencies, it means CCSYR is a trusted, system-recognized point of care for children and youth facing complex challenges in York Region.
