When I came here with my younger brother three years ago, I had many responsibilities. We moved here from Turkey to pursue a world-class education, and I got busy with high school work and taking care of my brother. I also needed to figure out my future and was eager to learn about the Canadian way of life. CCSYR gave me that exposure! The staff hand-held me with the application for a work permit, networking and job search.
I’m now pursuing a Business Administration – International Business program at college while preparing to start a job in customer service at one of Canada’s major banks. I’m so glad that even my parents, who later moved from Turkey, started actively participating in English classes and various other events at CCSYR. These programs drew their interest because they got a chance to meet several people from Turkey. CCSYR’s extended community is now their second home!
