As a Certified Ontario Teacher of 40+ years and an English Teacher Consultant for 15 of those years living and working in China, I personally recognize all the struggles I faced to relocate to another country. And because of my experience, I deeply empathize with the work that newcomers need to do to assimilate into Canadian culture.
Specializing in professional development for newcomers, my tribe comprises passionate professionals who want to thrive in Toronto. This is through the volunteering that I continue to do at CCSYR – facilitating English Conversation Circles for newcomers, training seminars for newcomer facilitators and presentations for newcomer job seekers.
It is with great honour that I have been accepted as a member of the Board of Directors for the CCSYR. I bring to the table my continuous focus on newcomer empowerment with fresh ideas, fostering excitement, and celebrating successes. For me, the journey is fulfilling as I give back my knowledge and experience from my profession and my society in meaningful ways. My goal is making a tangible impact to foster the future leaders who will create a country that we would want when we are old and gray!
