After I retired from my regular job, I earned a certification in jewelry-making and started a bead jewelry-making business in Iran. When I came to Canada with my husband and son in 2019, I sought ways to use my entrepreneurial experience, learn new things and do something meaningful. I heard about CCSYR during a library visit before the pandemic. Little did I know that the agency would guide us like a light through the darkness of the lockdown period when we felt alone. Also, what amazed me was the variety of services and programs for newcomers at the organization. I found relevant information sessions for everything, whether I needed guidance with banking, taxes, daily life or mental health. CCSYR became a one-stop solution to all my needs. Interaction with the excellent staff, including Shahla Shakeriaski and Homaira Ghazvini Nejad, has boosted my confidence like never before. Even now, I attend CCSYR events whenever possible.
