Lead, Community Healthcare Projects

Shamima Nasrin Mili has been working with Catholic Community Services of York Region (CCSYR) since 2005.

She has two Master’s degrees in her academic career, one of which is in Development Studies, with specialization on Gender and Development, and NGO and Development from The University of Erasmus, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Her other Master’s was in Geography, Jahangir Nagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Shamima also took a course on Immigration and Settlement in Canada, from Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly known as Ryerson University in 2019.

In the past 18 years of service with CCSYR, Shamima has worked with Job Search Workshop (JSW) and Integration Network Program (formerly known as Host Program). While working with Integration Network Program, she has initiated the Networking Program for Healthcare Professionals in 2010. Over the years, she has concentrated most of her efforts towards the International Medical Graduates (IMGs) moving to Canada. Over the past 12 years, this has grown immensely and became a stable network of around 400 IMGs helping them to pass their exams and find residencies throughout Canada. She is now assuming the responsibility as the Lead of Healthcare projects of CCSYR.
