Settling in a new country and adjusting to a completely different way of life is tricky and complex. Add to this: the problems and disappointment that arise from being unable to communicate effectively in the local language. I wasn’t sure how to start and who to seek help from when I came to Canada over a year and a half ago. I’m 58 years old now and never had any digital literacy. You can imagine how frustrated I was. However, meeting with the Library Settlement Partnership team of CCSYR changed my life for good.

The team introduced me to the digital world, and I began learning how to use basics like computers, Google Maps, and even job sites. The support they offered to help me deal with language barriers and begin a new life can’t be summarized in a few words.
