Nousheen Khan Amanullah

I moved from UAE to Canada in 2020 with my husband and three kids. I wanted to build our home in a safe place. I also knew I could add value to the Canadian healthcare system with my empathy and international experience in obstetrics and gynecology. CCSYR’s Shamima Mili helped me enrol in its study group for international medical graduates (IMG). Through the group, I got a better understanding of the licensing exam and free access to the study material (which is expensive to buy, otherwise). The online format of the study group helped me save money and time while balancing my commitments as a new immigrant and at home.

The mentors in IMGs have gone through the process themselves, which added value to the program. I’m enrolled in a residency program in family medicine at Western University. After the training, followed by a final exam, I shall be able to practice independently. I advise all international medical graduates to be persistent and believe in their dreams.
