Valentyna Burbelo

Born in Ukraine, Valentyna first moved to Canada in 2015 and has been working with us since 2023. Back in Ukraine, Valentyna worked at different places and positions, such as Client Manager, Pharmacist, Information Specialist, Medical Representative, both during and after her university degrees. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Marketing Certification, Valentyna entered the healthcare industry. Since moving to Canada, Valentyna was actively involved in the life of a Canadian community- volunteering for the town services, charity organizations, annual festivals, Ukrainian summer camp and more. In 2018, her connection with our organization was forged as she enrolled in the Newmarket Welcome Centre’s ELT course tailored for healthcare professionals. Valentyna’s initial role as an Intensive Case Manager at CCSYR opened a gateway for her to serve as a guiding beacon for Ukrainian newcomers, providing services of different levels, helping and advocating for them, so that their settlement in Canada is smooth, stress-free and joyful. Through her experiences as a healthcare worker, Valentyna is passionate about helping different communities of York Region and has helped strengthen the relationships and trust between CCSYR and its local communities. As part of her role as a Team Lead for Community Engagement, Valentyna is leading and managing all projects, activities, and events pertaining to various newcomer communities, seniors, youth, overseeing the art facilitation project, advocates for clients and facilitates access to various services. She is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian with a passive knowledge of Polish, Spanish and Serbian. Beyond work, she enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, rocket sports, and Latin dance. Her leadership and multifaceted skills drive our Community Engagement team forward.
