Leonilda Bastone-Patey

Leonilda Bastone-Patey is a dedicated advocate for social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, with over 34 years of experience in the health and community services sector within the Greater Toronto Area. Passionate about improving quality of life from beginning to end, she strives to be a voice for those in need, often choosing the right path over the easy one. Her leadership as co-chair of a coalition led to the opening of two shelters in Peel Region. She has also been a fierce supporter of young women escaping trafficking and women, children fleeing abusive relationships, homeless population and people living with mental health, addictions, and disabilities. During her time working within the hospice/palliative care sector she supported over 600 deaths. Life is extremely precious; she lives her values and is an authentic leader.
A champion for newcomers and refugees, Leonilda continually seeks to strengthen services for vulnerable populations. She is also committed to truth and reconciliation, standing as a strong ally to Indigenous communities. Given her lived experience, she will forever support the 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. On the personal front, she is a proud single mother of two intelligent and witty young women and enjoys the company of her two beloved grand pets, Chai (dog) and Clover (kitten).
