Position Overview: The Director of Operations is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for overseeing and managing support functions within the organization, including finance, HR, and DEI-B (Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging). This position plays a critical role in providing strategic direction and guidance to ensure efficient and effective operations across these key areas. The Director of Operations will collaborate with managers, executive leadership, and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for support functions, aligning them with the organization's overall strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and support function managers to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of support functions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize support services.
  • Lead the development and execution of short-term and long-term plans to support the organization's growth and sustainability.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the financial activities of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with the finance team to provide accurate and timely financial information for decision-making purposes.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and take corrective actions when necessary.

Human Resources:

  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the HR team in areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and compensation and benefits.
  • Collaborate with team to develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a positive work culture that promotes employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion.

DEI-B:

  • Provide leadership in fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming organizational culture where all employees feel valued and have a sense of belonging.
  • Lead the development of DEI-B across the CCAT funded agency partners.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to develop and implement initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure that policies, programs, and practices are inclusive and align with the organization's DEI-B objectives.
  • Oversee the integration of DEI-B principles into organizational processes such as recruitment, performance management, employee development, and decision-making.
  • Monitor the progress of DEI-B initiatives, analyze data, and report on key metrics to assess the impact of DEI-B strategies and identify areas for improvement.

What you need to succeed:

Education/Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, finance, or a related field.
  • Preference to MBA, CPA and/or CHRP.

Leadership experience:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple support functions.

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of financial practices in the not-for-profit sector (CPA preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of DEI-B and human resources practices (CHRP preferred).
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex information and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends in the areas of finance, HR, and DEI-B.
  • Understanding and strict adherence to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Fluency in a second language.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiar with health and community services and all levels of government.
  • Familiarity with the operations and funding of a Community Services Agency.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be asked to provide successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check.

Job Location: Various locations across the York Region

Working schedule: 37.5 hours per week, flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and able to work from home one day per week.

Salary: Starting $90,000

Hiring Volunteer Board of Directors CCSYR is a non-profit organization, and our vision is helping individuals, and their families thrive and grow in relationship with one another and within our community.  Our aim is “reaching out to all”.  CCSYR’s four core service streams include: counselling, settlement, employment, and community engagement.  We are the sole settlement service provider across both school boards and libraries in York Region.  Additionally, we are one of five lead agencies that operate the Welcome Centres in York Region.
